Statement of Intent
I will be producing a pop music video to raise awareness for
the LGBT+ community, with a target market of male and females aged 10-30.
My music video will not follow a complex storyline, yet more
of a concept of celebrating the LGBT+ community; we follow a lesbian couple who
are struggling to be who they are in public together however towards the end of
the video we see them eventually come to the conclusion that they are
comfortable with exhibiting their true selves to the world.
The song I will be using is ‘My My My!’ by Troye Sivan,
which I have chosen because it is a dance song which includes a drop which will
fit perfectly with the fluctuation of emotions throughout the song. The lyrics
can be interpreted to be about ones struggle with their sexuality however I
have made sure that the meaning of the song is still subtle enough for the song
to appeal to a wider target market. This song peaked at number 10 in the official
charts so I am confident that the song with attract my target market.
I will be filming the music video on a Nikon D5600 which is
a very suitable camera for this project. I have had a lot of practice in
preparation for the filming of the video and I will be using shots including
long, medium and close-up shots as well as different angles.
I have also done a lot of practice in terms of editing, for
example, my preliminary task helped me develop my skills so that my video will
be of a high standard. I will edit in this already mentioned, ‘fluctuating’ rhythm
and use techniques such as screen recording and templates to make the video
more interesting.
I will mostly be using natural lighting however for my
studio shoot I will be using artificial lighting from the soft boxes as well as
coloured lighting, created from gels clipped onto the soft boxes.
I will be keeping the hair and makeup very natural because I
want there to be a feeling of that the characters, although LGBT+, are still ‘normal’
so shouldn’t be discriminated. However, I will be using a lot of glitter and
rainbow stamps towards the end of the video to represent the celebration of
LGBT+ rights.
The video will be filmed over a few locations which include
Oxford Street and Trafalgar Square in London as well as the tube. I will also
be filming segments in the photography studio and around school. I have done a
Location Report as well as a Risk Assessment concerning these locations.
I am using a few props however I have chosen not to use too
many in case it gets too overwhelming. These include a pride flag, phones and
makeup. This will definitely inject colour into the video.
Overall I have planned the video quite thoroughly so
hopefully there will be little room for it to go not as planned.
