Mise-en-Scene Consideration

I thought that I would go into some more depth in regards to the Mis-en-Scene of my music video in this post; often you can plan for filming yet you forget to think about the small details such as small props. For my video, this could include such things as even star sequins which physically are a small item yet play a key role in telling my story. Other elements to consider include lighting, hair and makeup, locations, editing and sound, all of which I have included in a short presentation about the Mise-en-Scene for my video, as well as a video where I explain it in more depth. In the future, I will be creating more of a checklist style plan, such as which props I need for which scene as the timings. These will also be given out to cast members so everybody is updated and is aware of all of the details.

Below, is the full presentation containing certain trigger words which I explain in the video, having been inserted below.

I found that reconsolidating and finalising the mise-en-scene for my music video was very helpful in the planning process because it means that I can see exactly which props I need for which scenes. I found that talking through my mise-en-scene in the video above was also very reassuring as I felt that I had included everything, although I was unsure because I am not using many props, for example. However I feel that keeping props and techniques at a minimum would not take any attention away from the emotion in the story, yet add to the narrative.

  1. Greg I love the video of you explaining about the mise-en-scene of your video in more depth! The aesthetic of your video looks really nice, I am very excited for the video.
You seem to have a lot of props and equipment so do you have a budget plan?
