Music Video Treatment
Before a music video is made, a pitch/treatment from many different editors/producers will be made to sell the artist their music video. The artist may give a brief in which some form of idea will be made yet the editors/producers job would be to sell their interpretation of the video including potential moodboards and storylines. This is usually done in the form of a presentation.
I decided to create a treatment for my music video to display on here my current thoughts about the video in more depth. When a treatment is made in the industry, many elements are explained of which I will be looking at. This includes introducing the idea, explaining, method and techniques as well as visuals such as photos and videos. Also I could include the song, narrative and how it meets my genre and target market.
Producing this treatment has definitely helped clarify my ideas into more of a rounded concept, and has made for a good foundation on which to start to storyboard. In the industry I would use this yet I would make it look more professional and refined as the style of mine is fairly informal. However doing this has allowed me to piece together all of the elements of my music video to see if they would work together to form a clear, emotional message.
Nonetheless, I think there is a sense that, although i have made a pitch, I could change my mind on some elements, such as the aesthetic. This is because I may be in the midst of storyboarding/filming/editing and decide that in fact what I am producing wasn't what I had envisaged it to be like. For example, I could have quite extravagant ideas that in theory could work, but when it comes to filming I may find it too difficult so would have to find an alternative.
Whatever struggles I will find during the process I can write about which will mould the video it becomes, and hopefully if anything majorly goes wrong I can remain calm and find a solution.

Overall this is a great piece of work! Perhaps you could comment more on the characteristics of the main protagonist.
ReplyDeleteI think that the main protagonist for my video will be vulnerable at the start but grow in confidence when they realise that they are accepted by so many others. Also, they will feel lonely and weak yet develops into someone who is confident in themselves. They are also very good at acting in a sense that nobody knows they are hurting inside as they try to cover their weakness up.
DeleteVery clear and eye-catching treatment!
